Pharmaceutical Hard Gelatin Capsule Production Line
Hard capsule shells are two-piece capsules made from cellulose-based raw materials that encapsulate nutraceutical formulations.
Producing high quality hard capsule shells requires specialized production lines involving several key processes.
First, raw cellulose is treated with acids to activate the cellulose polymer chains.
Next, the activated material is immersed in a dipping solution and run through a dipping mold to shape the capsule cap and body.
The formed shells are then dried to precise moisture content before final finishing steps like polishing, joining, and printing.
Hard capsule shell production lines are complex systems that control variables like immersion speed, temperature, drying, and humidity to produce capsules with consistent weight, solubility, disintegration, and other critical quality attributes.
Key equipment involved in end-to-end capsule shell production includes activators, dipping machines, drying tunnels, joiners, polishers, printers, and associated instrumentation.
